SCA Reps Japan’s Olympic Edition Stamps!

  • Date July 6, 2021

Our girls continue to shine around the world as we receive news that our very own Abigail Thurton, her sister Haley, and our superstar teacher, Mrs. Hiroko Franklin along with the Belize Pantempters Steel Band are featured on the Olympic edition of the Japanese stamps!

The images reflect various events that the group participated in during their visit to Japan in November 2019. We love all the stamps, but we are especially fond of the one with the Thurtons in their kimonos while on their visit to Yokoshiba Hikari, Japan as cultural ambassadors of Belize!

The stamps were created to showcase the sports, culture, etc. of Japanese local governments and residents of countries and regions participating in the “2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games” (otherwise referred to as the “Tokyo Games”), which was postponed to 2021. By interacting in various fields such as the economy, the stamps will be used for regional revitalization, etc., and aim to realize long-lasting exchanges beyond the Tokyo Games.

The Japan Post Co., Ltd. Kanto Branch will start selling the original frame stamp “Yokoshibahikari Town x Belize Host Town Frame Stamp” from Friday, July 9, 2021.
